To bigger, better things!
Yeesh! It’s been a WHILE, so thought I’d write a quick post about what I’ve been up to.
Long story short; the day after my last blog I started a new job. At the time it was a freelance gig at a small independent Dublin agency, Bonfire. After three 3 months I was offered a short term contract and I was happy out.
At Bonfire I worked as an Art Director and Designer on a multitude of projects for various clients. As this was my first real job in an advertising agency, it gave me a lot of insight into how things work in agencies, even though I’m sure every agency has its own ways. To name a few, I worked on pitches for prospective clients, on generic artwork for Social, on Back to School campaigns, on logo designs, and on recreating characters from old comics (like the Beano and the Dandy), which was one of the most fun things I did while working there.
Unfortunately my time in Bonfire came to an end, and I was very sad to leave. Everyone I worked with was lovely, and I learnt so much; I will be forever grateful. However, it was time for me to move on.
Easier said than done…
Looking for my dream job has proven to be as hard with agency experience as it was without. There isn’t a lot of movement in the industry, which doesn’t help the unlucky streak I’ve had in my professional life so far. But I’m not one to wallow!
I’ve made sure to keep myself busy; there’s nothing I can’t stand more than having nothing to work on – yes I’m a workaholic, guilty as charged. I’ve been working on some freelance projects, including building a brand new website, and designing a new logo and promotional materials for a small Craft Studio.
